Rocking The Boat needs to check the amount of different species dwelling in the Bronx River. These checks are done every semester along the river. The checks include general records for the Alewife, Shrimp, and other species that we have yet to find. The reason we conduct these tests is to determine the amount of biodiversity in the Bronx River. The more biodiversity, the more stable the ecosystem of the river is. Over a period of time, we will be able to determine whether the health of the river is improving or getting worse, but here at Rocking the Boat, we expect it to get better.

At Rocking the Boat, not only do we check the amount of biodiversity, but we also interview the people that we might find fishing on the Bronx river to see if they might have come across something that we haven’t come across yet. Lately there has not been any recent discovery but we will continue to search for the new species. These species will be our passage way to a healthier Bronx river and a sky high biodiversity. Rocking the Boat has a lot of ways to complete projects such as the projects that have been explained to you. The way we did this project is split the Bronx River in to five zones. Each zone represented on the map(right) is a different part of the river where we did the checks.
