Experience all of Rocking the Boat's exciting hands-on activities in our afterschool program for 6th through 8th graders.
boat carpentry
Learn the basics of boat carpentry by using hand and power tools to build model boats and other maritime masterpieces.
sailing
Experience the sport of sailing on the Bronx River aboard our fleet of traditional wooden boats and plastic dinghies. Students will gain hands-on experience in reading wind direction and understanding points of sail.
environmental science
Explore the natural wonders of the Bronx by learning to identify local bird species, assess the water quality of the Bronx River, and engage in fishing to discover the diverse organisms that inhabit the river.

Take 6 train to Hunts Point Avenue, walk south on Hunts Point Ave (crossing under the Bruckner Expressway overpass) until you reach Lafayette Ave. Make left turn at Lafayette Ave and walk all the way down the steep hill to Edgewater Road. Cross Edgewater Road and train tracks and make a sharp left on the sidewalk alongside a warehouse. Rocking the Boat is the first entrance on the right.
