In addition to the more immediate giving methods described on the Support Us page, Rocking the Boat welcomes your consideration of a planned giftYour planned gift can support our organization's current programs, name a program space or position, or strengthen the endowment, ensuring that young people continue to benefit from Rocking the Boat’s programs for generations to come.  There are various flexible giving options that may meet your personal, charitable, and financial goals.


Beneficiary designations
Beneficiary designations are one of the easiest ways to give.  All that’s needed is to fill out a beneficiary form from your bank for an account or CD; your IRA, 403(b), or 401(k) plan; or your life insurance company to allow funds to pass directly toRocking the Boat upon your passingThis method may bypass the probate processsimplifies estate administration, and has potential income and estate tax benefits savings for your heirs. 


Bequests
Another simple way to give is through a bequest in your will.  You may create a new will or update your existing will with the help of your legal counsel.  This gift may be for a dollar amount, a percentage, or a remainder of your estate.  See below for specific terminology to incorporate in your will.  You are always welcome to get in touch with Jaye Pockriss, Chief Operating Officer, at jaye@rockingtheboat.org for a conversation.


Trusts
You may be able to create a trust in exchange for your assets that can provide regular payments and tax benefits for you and your family.  These may include a charitable remainder trust, charitable lead trust, or revocable trust.

 

Below is suggested language to use when drafting your bequest or beneficiary designation.

For an unrestricted gift that allows Rocking the Boat to determine how to use the funds based on the most pressing needs, use the following language for your will and/or trust:

 
give to Rocking the Boat, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 812 Edgewater RdBronx, NY 10474EIN# 13-4177814, _________ [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose.
