planned giving

In addition to the more immediate giving methods described here, Rocking the Boat welcomes your consideration of a planned gift.  Such contributions ensure a lasting impact on Rocking the Boat’s work and may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after all other provisions are specified.  Support the organization’s current programs, name a program space or position, or strengthen the endowment, ensuring that young people continue to benefit from Rocking the Boat’s programs for generations to come.  You and your family have multiple flexible giving optionsthat meet your personal, charitable, and financial goals.

Beneficiary designation
Fill out a Payable on Death (POD) or Transferable on Death (TOD) beneficiary form from your bank for an account or CD; your IRA or 401(k) plan; or your life insurance company to allow funds to pass directly to Rocking the Boat after your death.  This method bypasses probate, simplifies estate administration, and has potential estate tax benefits.

Charitable gift annuity
You make a gift to Rocking the Boat and we pay you (or someone else, if you choose) a fixed amount each year for the rest of your life. The balance is used to support Rocking the Boat’s programs.

Trust
Whether it is a charitable remainder trust, charitable lead trust, or revocable trust, you have options for donating your assets, saving some for other beneficiaries, benefiting from tax deductions, and even receiving an income stream

Bequest
Bequeath a gift on your own or with your legal counsel or financial advisor.  These gifts can be for a dollar amount, a percentage, or a remainder of your estate.  Refer to the Planned Giving page for specific terminology to incorporate in your will.  You are always welcome to get in touch with Jaye Pockriss, Chief Operating Officer, at jaye@rockingtheboat.org for a conversation.

Below is suggested language to use when drafting your bequest.

For an unrestricted gift that allows Rocking the Boat to determine how to use the funds based on the most pressing needs, use the following language for your will and/or trust:
