aquatic explorations: elementary programs

Sink or Float

Will Your Boat Sink or Float?
Students tour the boat building shop and learn about the materials and processes used to build a boat that will float. Students are introduced to a variety of different objects and predict whether they will sink or float. They test them and explore the concept of buoyancy in fresh and salt water before crafting their own small boats from clay to test.

Water Cycle

Journey through the Water Cycle
Students learn about the water cycle through an interactive game. They will also follow the path of water by interacting with a watershed model and following snowmelt and precipitation to the ocean. Finally, they learn about what happens to water in urban environments through a hands-on investigation.
